Employee giving campaign raises a cumulative $1.5M for charity

At Minto, we work to strengthen our communities by offering volunteering time, pledge matching, and direct financial support to improve the lives and livelihoods of every region we're a part of. Every year since 2013, Minto employees have supported local charities as part of our giving strategy. These employee-driven fundraising initiatives are run by employee volunteers in each region who plan fundraising activities and virtual events to encourage their coworkers to participate and give. For every dollar raised by employees, the Greenberg family and Minto Foundation provides matching funds.

Season of giving

In 2023, we raised $258k for charity across Canada and USA. The Greenberg family through the Minto Foundation, generously donated $128,903 in matching funds.  This is an increase of 17% over 2022 (213k). In fact, since 2019 the number has continued to climb as we’ve expanded the list of recipients beyond just the United Way to also include regional food banks, Toys for Tots, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), SickKids Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Mental Health Association, and more. Employees can also get involved by donating their BRAVO! Holiday Award (employee rewards points), contributing to local charities through payroll deduction, or by bidding in virtual auctions.

Season of giving

Total donations for Seasons of Giving since 2013 tally up to $1.5M in support of worthy causes

Other highlights throughout 2023, include the following:

•  Volunteering—For every hour of personal time employees spend volunteering, we offer a half hour of time off.
•  Pledge matching—To benefit local residents, we match employee-driven fundraising efforts.
•  Sponsorships—We sponsor businesses and initiatives that offer a sense of belonging – some highlights include After School Club, Children’s Peace Theatre, Hospital Activity Book for Children, local cultural fairs, and community events.
•  35% of buyers have taken advantage of our Local Heroes Program for public service workers in the US
•  23 years of building the CHEO dream home
